Managing colitis in cat

How do you manage your cats colitis? My 9 year old kitty is on 5mg of steroids daily and we have just started hypoallergenic food. He’s eating the food but looks so sad!

My elderly cat aged 21 had colitis for 12 years before her death at 21. She had diarrhoea all the time. Steroids didn't do anythng and none of the tests we had done at the vets showed what the problem was - she had every test under the sun.
We've tried every kind of food going.
In the end I just let her eat whatever she wanted and it didn't make any difference. She eventually died of kidney failure.
She was a happy and loving cat and mostly managed to get to the litter tray in time but was a bit messy at times.
They are good at looking sad if they don't get what they want. It makes you feel crushed.

My cats IBD and skin allergies are completely control on Purina HA. Hills z/d worked, but she hated it. HA she loves.

So we are trying the purina one but he’s lost weight since we switched. I feel he was better on the steroids but I’m worried about long term usage. It’s so tricky!

Steroids do cause weight gain so maybe the weight loss could be due to your cat stopping them?
