How to clean cat sick on rug

My lovely cat has thrown up all over a new rug. I've scooped up most of the solids with kitchen roll but it's a mess of mushy half chewed food. What can I use to clean it?

Are you me? Woke to this this morning. Took top layer off with toilet roll and then used wipes on it. It was 6 am so possibly not the best job. Will check later!

Let it dry then rub off. Then clean with Dr Beckmann cleaner. The one with the brush on the bottle.

Was just going to say this .. brilliant stuff !

I remove anything solid with a knife (reserved for the purpose btw 🤣) Wick away any wet with kitchen towel. Clean with Vanish Mousse.
Works every time.

I have that dr beckerman (I think that's what it's called??) it's a plastic bottle with a brush type thing on the head and it's been a godsend on carpets and rugs when the cats thrown up even very light carpets

@SaffronQuoda Sorry you had the same early morning surprise! We bought the rug last weekend to replace a cheap 5 year old rug that had seen better days but never been puked on 🙈 Our cats have only ever been sick on the laminate flooring before.

Of course they saved it for your better rug!!

Another vote for Dr Bechmann cleaner. The brush is great it really works.

I meant to come back and update. The Dr Beckmann carpet cleaner worked brilliantly. You'd never know it was covered in two giant piles of sick yesterday (he's a Maine Coon with a Maine Coon sized stomach!).
