Picking up this little Bengal cross next weekend all being well! She’s five months old, beautiful, fur like silk, very happy with people, playful but chilled.

DH and I love music, puns, history. DS is one so likes most things especially cats and dogs!

Rosetta is on the list! Cleocatra, Clawdia / Clawdette and Purrdita have also found favour with DH.

@RosesAndHellebores Hildy has actually been on the list but from Hildegard - as in Hildegard of Bingen, the 12th century composer, mystic, author, all around cloistered polymath.

I was thinking maybe she should have a Bengali name, and then I remembered the Bengali for water is Fanny, I think that would suit her.

I used to work with a Nargis, which is a Nasturtium and the name of an Indian dish that is like a scotch egg and that made me think of bhaji.

So, after all that, I think she would be a fine Bhaji.

Bhaji! How sweet. We wondered about a Bengali name. Or perhaps a Muslim name as the predominant religion of that part of the world - Muezza perhaps, after The Prophet Mohammed’s cat. But as I’m not Muslim or Bengali myself I wasn’t sure if it was a bit odd or disrespectful.

DH has said no to Rosetta. I liked Rosie for short.

@AnApparitionQuippedI rather liked Cashmere or Velvet, same lines as Silkie, as she’s so wonderfully soft. DH says those are t real names. So I’ve threatened to call her Roger as it is a real name.

A work colleague many years ago had a kitten called Bissy, which apparently is Arabic for pussy / pussy cat.

Roselilly36 · 14/11/2022 08:53

Sacha, she is gorgeous.

The manufacturers of Irn Bru would beg to differ 🤣

prettybird · 14/11/2022 09:37

That's the joke @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats - and non-Scots won't understand Grin

GuppytheCat · 14/11/2022 10:00

Music based (though I do like Hildegard):
Aria, Octavia, Piccolo, Cecilia, Musetta

We used to have a Magnificat, known as Maggie.

prettybird · 14/11/2022 10:05

We had a Muscat who was very beautiful.

Also a Mandu (Katmandu)

MsMiaWallace · 14/11/2022 10:36

We've just bought home a Bengal cross kitten.
So far she is amazing!
Love all the Bengal cross love on here!

We are leaning towards Cleo with Rosetta / Rosita, Tosca and Magnificat also on the list! We will get her home and then see what her personality seems like but Cleocatra will be the working title!

I’ve not named an animal for years. My other cats have been rescues who came with names and we just named our chickens after their breeds (Leghorn, Blacktail, Sussex etc). We would have rescued again but it’s tricky to find rescue centres who are happy with young kids and unenclosed gardens - so Cleo is instead from an unplanned litter, not a breeder, found on pets4homes. The last time I named an animal was my childhood dog!

I’m enjoying the Bengal cross love on here. Bengals are such a glorious breed, and my experience is that crossing them with something a little less intense makes them an easier pet - but still with that amazing personality and showstopping looks!
