Any litter tray recommendations?

We are getting a kitten and haven’t had a litter tray for a long while! Is it best to get one with a hood on or are they a pain to clean?!

The best litter tray I ever had was a top entry one. I had to get rid of it when I adopted another Persian who was not overly endowed with brains and couldn't work it out. I have a hooded one, it contains the mess quite well. Though the afore mentioned feline scrapes the sides rather than burying the poo. And makes a great show if it. 🙄

Not a pain to clean I just took the top off. Have a new one that has a bigger hatch that just lifts up. It's even easier.

I'm interested in this too.
I want a hooded box.
I'm thinking the cheap pets at home ones might be false economy?

I had the one from
Wilko. It was fine, easy to clean.

Mine have one of these which is a really good size and the top comes off completely to clean it.

It’s also hilarious to see my idiot Persian (devoid of any proprioception skills) try to cover his poo’s by clawing at the clear bit at the top, then look back down to assess his work and carry on washing the windows with his paws. I like to think he’s washing his hands.

Also got a cheapie covered one from Pets at Home - but it’s really quite small and my bigger tabby never used it with its lid on as I think he feels a bit cramped in there. The Persian uses it no problems though.

Also have a special mat in front of both trays that is full of holes and designed to trap the litter that falls off their paws, it definitely helps loads with tracking, but doesn’t stop it completely.

On of them opens up so you can pour the loose litter back into the tray, the other I just hoover when I’m doing that room anyway.
