Lost my boy today

He was only 15 months old, and I can't believe how utterly devastated I am - let alone the DC, who are in bits. Will his sister - from the same litter - notice? They've been together since birth. Any advice would be so welcome.

I have no advice I’m afraid but I’m so sorry for your loss xx

I'm so sorry for your loss. She will but she will be ok, just give her lots of extra fuss. She may look for him xx

I'm so sorry Flowers. It's always so hard to lose a cat, but even more so if it happens at a very young age.

If they are siblings, it's likely your girl will notice and look for him, I'm afraid - give her lots of attention, as I'm sure you would anyway, and if she seems very distressed, try a Feliway diffuser to calm her.

Thank you all xx They were very different personalities- he was a mad raver and she's a pudding, but they were often together anyway. We'll totally be on top of all the cuddles, just wondered if there was anything that I should look out for, or worry about. I have no idea what to expect.

Thank you @AnApparitionQuipped for the suggestion, I'll look into it.

When one of our siblings died the other was grief stricken. Ended up having to get a dkitten. Sorry about your boy.

Bigslippers · 30/10/2022 00:26

Oh OP Im so sorry. My heart aches for you 💗
No words of comfort that I can give to make you feel better as it’s natural you’re going to be devastated

Ive lost a lot of loved pets over the years and it always helps me to make a little memorial in the garden. However small it just helps to ‘pay my respects and love’

My kids would get involved by painting a pebble or making a drawing or just putting a toy there.

Buy some fresh flowers, light a candle and give his sister an extra cuddle and a cheeky Lick e Lix
Love to you and yours x

I have no advice sorry x I am so so sorry for your loss xxx

So sorry. Could you show the body to his sister so she understands, and doesn't look for him? I took my cats sister to the vets when she was PTS, and from the way she reacted. She completely understood.

Luckingfovely · 30/10/2022 08:40

Thank you all Flowers so much.

We've buried him already so can't show her the body. She started yelling for food around 5am, so situation normal for now. We'll keep a super close eye on her (and I have an Amazon order coming today with extra treats, possibly as much to make myself feel better rather than her Wink).
