So we got kittens... And every month since we got them I have been doing a photo shoot each month. I pick one photo to stash and at the end of the year I plan to do a 12 picture collage (one of the kittens is my aunts, so this will be a cute gift) The problem? I cant decide on October. Which do you like best?
This is jack, 9 weeks old!

serenaisaknobhead · 28/10/2022 02:17

Yea was kinda thinking his "cowboy" costume wasnt working . I may redo the cute shirt for November when he wears his bell collar and sits in the leaves

The pumpkin one for October.

FoxyLadyBoutique · 28/10/2022 11:35

Aw he’s gorgeous! Pumpkin one for sure.

Re a thread last night, does that container also double up as the family’s sick bowl? 🤔

BarbaraofSeville · 28/10/2022 11:45

Definitely the bucket one.

But what drugs are you feeding him to get him to pose, wear clothes and sit still for photos?

I foster rescue kittens and have to get a nice photo for the website, which means hundreds of blurry photos of a tail or half a head as they attack the tiny kitten they can see reflected in the lens on my phone.

I bought that bucket a couple of years ago because we had a litter of black kittens around Halloween time and I wanted to take a photo of one of them in the bucket, but that wasn't happening.

I also got a Halloween kitty play tent this time last year and have been stalked by Shein ever since because I bought one thing a year ago and nothing else and the adult black cat it was for never went near it.

Easy secret? Lickable treat on the pumpkin rim.

Sueskatflap · 28/10/2022 16:06

Aren't cats and kittens cute enough without being made to wear clothes? Cats Protection will not accept photos I believe where the animals dressed in any way.

JennyWI · 28/10/2022 19:08

Yes they are. It's rare that I dress then up, usually halloween but as you can see there not being tortured and rather enjoy it. I took the shirt off and he tried to crawl back in

Easy answer? Get them when there sleeping, wake them up, pose them, then let them go back to sleep. There too toed to fight the photo and you may even score a cute kitty yawn

His furry self had no desire to sit in the bucket. He kept leaping out even w treats

It probably would if it wernt cracked on the bottom. ( don't worry I put a towel in the bottom before I let the kitties go near it)

The pumpkin bucket

Whiskeypowers · 28/10/2022 19:17

At a push the pumpkin bucket one. I am not comfortable seeing cats trussed up in these outfits. They always look either pissed off or incredibly stressed often both.

he is a lovely little kitten though

Oh, I wouldn't do that. I try to abide by the rule that if they're eating, sleeping or washing, let them be.

Floralnomad · 28/10/2022 20:38

It would have to be the bucket one as I don’t like cats wearing clothes , they are cute enough they don’t need things added .

Sueskatflap · 28/10/2022 20:50

I can see that Im probably in a minority here and others don't have a problem with dressing animals up but I do feel I must say something. And please don't take it personally but you r post with its request for input popped up in m yemails from Mumsnet....I'm sure you arent the only person to dress their animals I know you don't mean to be unkind and I don't want to offend you.... it shows that you are proud of your kitten and want to share him with your photos..kittens have buckets(!) of charm but we can all be unintentionally thoughtless at times and as a nine week old kitten is tiny compared to the average person I would be a bit concerned if a kitten was passive enough to allow itself to be dressed and posed without some kind of reluctance on their part. The lady who asked how you did it when the rescue kits she tried to photograph whizzed about....that's what they do you don't need to make little humans of them to get some fantastic photos for your collage picture. Crawling back doesn't mean to say the kitten was happy...and would you like a hat jammed on your head so that it bends your ear over? even if it's not for very long.? What people see on here sets an example and I was a bit sad that so far no one else had said anything about dressing small animals. They aren't dolls...your little Jack is gorgeous as he is. you could still put your Halloween props in your photos surely without dressing him up. if you want to use your month by month theme. Just a thought. And thanks for reading through this and letting me have a say...

Agree with @Sueskatflap
Kittens and cats are cute enough without being posed with stupid outfits

Furries · 29/10/2022 04:22

The pumpkin photo.

sorry, but I am not a fan of animals being dressed up - no matter how much people profess that the animal likes it.

Dressing them up has NOTHING to do with the animal, it’s everything to do with the owner/photographer. They’re cute/funny enough as they are.

I don’t have an issue with animals interacting with props etc for photos. As they are choosing to interact with those items.

stitchinguru · 29/10/2022 08:45

@Furries
I completely agree - please be assured that my kittens chose to be in my casserole dish!!
They also often liked to hang out in my sieve.
Having just housed 5 kittens of this age, I find the ‘cowboy’ get up quite worrying!!

Furries · 29/10/2022 11:09

@stitchinguru - I loved the kitten casserole! If they fits, they sits!

Chikapu · 31/10/2022 17:20

Did you want a pet or a toy? Let him sleep without you bothering him to put clothes on and have pictures taken 😕
