Elderly cat, sticky poo bum

I've got a 19 year old boy (rescued from being pts last year, mostly in excellent health!) who is starting to struggle with self grooming. He's quite long haired. He's currently got a big glob of poo stuck at the base of his tail, next to his bum...would it be too stressful to shower his bum? I can't think of how else to get rid of it! Poor stinky old boy!

You can buy special cat wipes (like baby wipes but non toxic to animals) from Amazon. We have them for a sticky bummed hairy kitten... Next time he's weighed at the vets I am going to ask them about a quick trim of the immediate area. so there's less to stick to Would that be an option?

Dry cloth if it's still damp: wet wipe if not. Or cut it off and then take to vets for a hygiene trim to prevent reoccurrence. I speak from experience. A long haired Persian with loose poo is not a good thing! I did have to just let the vet nurses deal with it once though.

I use the baby water wipes.

You can use wipes or just a cloth. And then he will hopefully clean himself up as best he can after.

A good groomer or vet will be able to do a hygiene trim to help him in the future.

I used to have this issue when I had my fluff bum boy.

Scissors...carefully trim him and wet wipes.
