I am possibly getting a new addition to the tribe. I have a soft spot for black cats and this poor boy has been in a shelter for 4 months so I've suggested a trial to see if he could be happy here. He just looks so sad and lost.

Apparently he can be quite bitey when overwhelmed and has been a stray for a long time (incidentally the rescue's vet could apparently tell that by his bloods. Can anyone explain what that means?) He's been tested for FIV which was negative and apparently has no health conditions.

The current tribe are Toad, Raven, Vixen, Ghostie (cause of her pale tortie colouring), Lech (Polish beer. This was the alcohol names for cats period), Frank (enstein) and Freddy (Kreuger). The new cat is called Rocky but he looks too sad to be a Rocky. For some reason my dad's middle name/family name Elwyn seems a good name for him,but then I read it means elf and I don't think a less elf like cat is possible.

What would you call this poor little grumpy boy?

I'm having a home check tomorrow and then I'll find out when he can come home. They said he doesn't like children (nor do I 😉 ) or other cats, but that apparently could just be cause he's been a stray for so long. That's why I've said it's going to be a trial - I don't want him to be unhappy but I have had other cats who started off hating everyone and everything and have now settled well, so hopefully I can offer the same to Mr Sad Face.

Nice you already have something in common 🤗

Let us know how your check goes today! I'm sure it will be fine & you'll probably have the inspector wanting to move in too!

I like Soot. Hardly novel I know. But it's no nonsense & can be softened to Sooty/Sooty pants...

I look forward to more photos!! & updates.

he has a smoosh face, under the scowl!

He looks just like my boy, that's his resting bitch face. His name is Jinx.

Well, Mr Sad Face isn't coming to live with me ☹️ The rescue thought it was too much to risk him not being happy and then having to move home again, plus he's ok-ish in his foster home and has started to rub up against the foster dad's legs, so clearly isn't as unhappy as he looks in the photo. The home check lady did say that he does tend to do a sad face pose when they photograph him.

It's a shame cause I think he would have been a great addition to my cat family, but his feelings are the most important and so if they think he would find it too much then I trust their judgement. I hope Mr Sad Face finds his forever home soon (or that his foster dad realises that he is his forever dad, not just fostering!)
