Kitten sitting in her poop

I have two almost four month old kittens. Vet gave me flea/worming drops which I used Tuesday. I became convinced they had worms and also gave them half a worming tablet each Wednesday night.

Now one of them is sitting in her poop whenever she goes and the poop and litter sticks to her backside and it is horrendous trying to clean it off.

Is this something that happens after worming? Have I overdosed them?

It's only the one kitten not both.

Why did you double dose?

I would take her to the vets personally - you don't want to be giving such small kittens too much medication as it can make them quite poorly.

The tablets might not be an issue. My lot had persistent worms and the vet said to give an extra dose.

But one thing I've learned this week on cleaning kitten bottoms when they're not up to speed on it themselves is to immerse their bottom half in warmish water and pull it off as it softens.

Or if it's not too bad try and drench the area using cotton wool and comb it out.

I've got a long haired foster who's quite a bit smaller than yours and she had loads of poo all over her arse, trousers (technical term for the backs of their legs) and tail until I worked out that worked best.

She wouldn't let me use cotton wool or comb it out for what it needed but tolerates the dunking reasonably well and we have a little cuddle and dreamies afterwards with her wrapped in a towel to dry off a bit.

We need to know their names! They're adorable...

Too cute. Water wipes are good for cat poonamis.

@BarbaraofSeville oh you say trousers too! So funny I've always used that term....bloomers for the girls.

Thanks all for taking the time to reply.

Their names are Nancy and Jess. Nancy is the one who has had the issue and it seems to be settling down now thankfully.

I grew up with dogs so cat babies are all new to me and I'm reading anything I can get my hands on and asking everyone I can for advice to take the best care I can of them.
