Cut on Peanut's back leg

So yesterday morning Peanut was out for a few minutes, then came back in and had a cut on his foot.

He was limping, but generally pretty chilled about it. First thought that it looked like a bit and maybe he had fought another cat, but whenever hes faced off the neighbour cats hes been a lot more skittish after, so i guess he just scratched it on something.

Today he is back to normal, not limping at all any more and lets us touch his foot. He is cleaning it a bit, but not excessively.

Is this something you would go to the vet for or would you just wait and see and keep an eye on it, and it will be the first of many injuries....?

Should say its not a deep cut, a bit of blood yesterday and looks red today but not deep

Personally I would get it checked out. If it is a bite he might need antibiotics - easier to nip an infection in the bud than to treat it when it's developed.

Heres a picture of the cut for reference. Best i could get.

I wouldn't bother with the vets, but then again, our practise are very rural and old-fashioned - they would take one look at that and say "it'll clear up" and not even charge you for the appointment Grin

I would keep an eye at home and if it starts bothering him or looking nasty then of course take him, but I wouldn't waste the time or money on something that minor myself.

That looks more like a puncture than than scratch but it's a odd place for a bite.
I would perhaps bathe it in a milde sakt solution a few times a day and keep a close eye on it.
Leg swelling
Paw warmer than others
Pale gums
Lack of appetite
Lethargy
Licking it a lot
Anything unusual

It looks nice and clean, as long as you don't think there is anything in there and just superficial!

I would just make sure you're happy there aren't anymore elsewhere incase it was a fight wound (the abscesses can develop a few days later), watch him to make sure he isn't licking it and keep it as clean as possible.

Otherwise if he isn't lame and seems okay in himself would see how it looks in a day or so
