Chatty cats

I have two cats who are absolute gobshites chatty cat breeds - a Burmese and a Ragdoll. We love their chattiness and the fact no thought goes unexpressed. We’re getting a kitten next week - a British Shorthair - and I gather they aren’t particularly chatty - I just wondered if the new kitten would pick up on chatty behaviour from the other two.

Three black moggies here.

Kitten (well, he's two now) never shuts up - he shouts for his dinner, for attention, to tell me there's a fly or just because he can.

Middle girl (six) meows for attention or as a greeting mostly - or before she jumps up on your lap - kind of like asking permission which is really sweet.

Grumpy fat boy (seven) never meowed much until recently - now he does like an angry "MAO" when he wants his dinner or if you tell him to get out the way 🤣

My British short hair never shuts up. Talks to the ceiling or bits of wall that have offended her. Comes for a very noisy chat at 4am. Perpetually talking to various moving toys.

I have two BSHs. They are not particularly vocal. One yells when she wants belly rubs but is otherwise silent. The other one will "chat" in a sort of interactive way mainly when she wants treats. But neither "spoke" until they were about two and a half.

My Doris shouts back to me when I call her in for the night, it's like she's saying hang on I'm coming!!

Ours is very chatty he was a rescue cat though. Possibly some oriental in him as he has blue eyes. When he was first let out he meowed all the time as he explored.

I have 2 very chatty cats.

The moggy was like it from a kitten, just seemed to feel she needed to make announcements all the time.

Then the Arabian Mau arrived. This took things to another level. He has both volume and a wide array of blood curdling sounds. His worst is a noise like he has broken his leg but actually means he has caught something and is very pleased with himself.

Rosie is my chattiest cat. She shouts at me from the moment I arrive home until I go to bed. She follows me around, demanding I sit down 😲 Tuesday evening is my foreign language class on Zoom - every time she bombs the lesson and waves her arse in front of the camera 🙀

My ragdolls never say anything nice. They have very moany whingy tones.
They do also have gorgeous load purrs.

Our Burmese rarely says anything, but my parents have a tabby mog who never stops! She likes to announce her presence as soon as she arrives in a room, and is especially vocal at mealtimes 😂
