Senior cat strange wee accident

Our 17 year old female cat is great at using the litter tray and has never really had any accidents outside of it. She was fit and healthy at her last vet check-up earlier in the year.

Today she had been playing with a new catnip toy for a few moments then suddenly stopped and did a massive wee while standing up. She looked a bit confused afterwards but then just sniffed it and walked off.

The litter tray was clean and there was nothing we could see that would deter her from using it is.

Could it be the catnip? Or is it to be expected as she gets older?

She was off her nut on kitty crack and got caught out, that's all.

Get her tested for a UTI. Our oldie had never peed anywhere but her tray for 17 year until a UTI got her.

Our cat started having accidents at 17. If I remember rightly she was treated for a UTI but the accidents did continue until she passed away a year later so might be a senior thing if it continues. Definitely worth checking with the vet if there are more incidents.

She needs the vet - it's probably just a UTI but they can be really serious in older animals.
