Just taken our kitten in its proud pink carrier for first jabs and vet confirmed that our ‘peach’ (named by our DD after Princess Peach) is in fact, a boy!

Sex was confirmed at another vets with the breeder and as we’ve only had dogs, was none the wiser. We’ve had HIM (still tripping up on that) for 2 weeks - and we will love him just the same. Plus it’s a funny story to tell, albeit a bit of a shock.

Will definitely need a new name though. Little man is sleeping his rather eventful morning off. Looking forward to telling DD when I pick her up from school and DH can no longer moan about being outnumbered by girls.

We had a black Persian called Peggy.
A boy..

Peach (or Peach Boy) is the name of a male Japanese folklore hero, so definitely not just a female name.

I’m loving all of your stories!

DD took it well, I think Loki is the new favourite but much to my DH’s displeasure me and DD will probably still call him Peach 🍑

Had the same! Breeder told us a boy, first lot of injections and vet confirmed a girl! She is very fluffy so it was hard to tell 😂😂 her name is Buu so didn’t need to name change!

Well our Loki (previously peach) lost his plums today. He seems absolutely fine to us. I’ve been told to give him boiled chicken, which he’s just dramatically spat out and ran away from. Now begging us for food, I’m not sure whether to give his usual food just a smaller portion?

We had a bit who was in fact a girl, ginger with a little white. She was adorable

I wasn't told to give different food. I'd give small portions of the usual food

My childhood male cat rejoiced in a girls' name too - it happens more often than you'd think!

Clarich007 · 10/01/2023 17:16

He is gorgeous bless him.
I have only ever had girl cats so when we got our rescue cat, we could see that he was definately a 2 year old entire tomcat. His plums were removed 4 days later.
He was prone to fighting, and had lots of cuts, wounds and abscesses, so one day when he was washing I thought oh no not another one. Turned out he was washing his willy. I did feel silly 😂😻

My Auntie got a beautiful ginger tabby and called "her" honey, till my other auntie was visiting and saw Honey washing "her" enormous balls. Name stuck and Honey was a a prolific fighter and hunter and a father twice over.

Oh and your kitten is 😍

DatasCat · 11/01/2023 13:15

My DM’s NDNs once had two black cats, one of each sex, or so they thought. ‘Eddie’ turned out to be female.

BrennieGirl · 11/01/2023 13:17

Seems to be quite common. Our Poppy turned out to a Booby. His balls hadn't dropped!
