Cat lives in my garden

I have never owned or been in close proximity to a cat and I’m in my 30s šŸ˜‚

Anyway, there is a cat who basically has been living in my garden for the past month. She (guessing the sex here) seems to disappear for a few hours then she comes back again. We have large overgrown bushes in one part of the garden and she always seems to be hunting something in them (I have never seen anything in there). She is very unsuccessful as she has a collar with a bell on. She sleeps perched on the fence.

I am more curious as to why she has taken residence in my garden? We have never given her food although someone is as she is rather large.

And can I deter her, she is forever giving me the evil eye and doesn’t even move now when I go out into the garden.

"I am more curious as to why she has taken residence in my garden?"

Almost certainly because she is intent on hunting whatever lives under your bushes. Cats are obsessive hunters.

Why do you want to deter her?

BoxOfCats · 07/10/2022 04:57

Are you sure she isn't lost? Does the collar have any contact details for the owner?

jonesy1999 · 07/10/2022 10:45

She sounds lovely. Could you not just co-exist? Doesn't sound like she's doing any harm.

We had a cat living in our garden, with an older kitten. Then she had kittens and they were tiny we got them collected at 4 weeks old and mum cat still lives in our garden with older kitten they are always starving šŸ˜ž desperate to get in the house too daily

@sequinwater can you get Cats Protection to get them and check if they’re chipped/neutered?

I tried ! My local ones are full and told me to fill forms out and I’ll be put on a waiting list. Same with other rescues and also I tried rspca and they haven’t ever got back to me.
we only managed to catch the kittens and get them to a vet but the mum and other older kitten nobody is interested in sadly

Tbf she is rather cute, but I definitely wouldn’t feel confident enough to approach her to check collar details. I’m on the local fb group so I might post a pic

Are you sure she's not pregnant?
