Cat hair, is this normal?

Bit of a random one as google is coming up blank, just wondering if anyone here might know please. We recently adopted an older cat and while grooming him had a couple of these clumps of hair with what looks like skin attached. Wondering if this is normal on a cat that probably hasn't been groomed in a while? Or could he have a skin problem? Maybe the brush is just crap?! Thanks for any input Smile

Looks like a scab that's come off?

We call them taggles basically it's like a little scab from scratching with super sharp claws my cats get it from fighting each other but they can also do it to themselves

Hard to say from the image but it likely to be hair pulling off a scab as the others say. I have a page on what causes scabs on cats which might help. Check out the skin carefully by parting the fur. This is a skin problem so a vet might need to look at it.
