I'm not living at home. I went to stay with my aged parents in lockdown and due to a number of issues I'm still here.
My older DS is living in my house and caring for our cats. I only get home about one week per quarter.
Last time I visited I found that my older cat (15) has several very scabby patches. The worst is directly under her chin. I've kept cats all my life and I've never felt anything like it. What's particularly weird is that she very much wants you to pick at her scabs. She stretches her neck out and never pulls away. She had a small patch on her right shoulder and I managed to rid of all of it. Cats normally hate you touching a sore place. The scabs are clearly very itchy.
I had to come back to my mum's house but got my son to take the cat to the vet. Vet gave her a strong tablet for fleas, ticks and ringworm and gave an anti inflammatory injection. Wants to see the cat again next month.
But the vet never gave any explanation for the appalling crusty scabs. She even said the cat had very few fleas.
Does anyone know what might be going on here? Would it help to bathe the cat?
