Help - Upset over ‘Neighbour’s’ Cat

We lost our beloved cat in August. Over the past few weeks we noticed a very friendly cat hanging about the front of our home, during my Tesco delivery he got in but accepted being gently put outside. We started to feel concerned that he might be stray so posted on fb etc, put a paper collar on him. Got a response to the collar, lives a short distance from us, often strays from home but usually returns.. Felt very relieved and happy to know he’s ok. A week later he’s still outside our home all the time, sleeping in our garden, meowing at the door. Currently sitting in the rain. My family are finding it really difficult having recently lost our own pet. We have explained this to his owners, and I do realise you can’t ‘train’ cats, Not sure how to manage this situation.

You can't really do anything. Cats wander and will go where they please.

Cats like spare humans. Don't feed him, but I see no objection to letting the manipulative poor chap come in.

🤣🤣🤣 ‘Cats like spare humans’.
This is very true. He is trying it on to see if he prefers your family to his current one.
He has a home to go to if he chooses to
