Cat sore paw

My (outdoor)cat has been limping for about three weeks. When it first happened I took her to the emergency vet who gave her painkillers. It seemed to improve then got worse again. She’s now seen four vets, including having x days and there’s nothing to see. But still she limps.

The vet even sent the X-rays to be checked by another vet and there’s nothing untoward there.

My kitty has a good range of movement including stretching and reaching out, she just won’t put her paw down. The vets have all concluded it’s a soft tissue injury but it seems to be going on ages without improvement. No swelling or trauma to suggest that it’s a soft tissue issue and even the vet accepts that.

I suppose I’m looking for reassurance that this sort of thing happens and it’ll eventually get better. Do soft tissue injuries in cats take this long to heal?

If it’s a ligament they can take ages, they can fake injuries too if it gets them extra attention.

Thank you, I know I sound like a parent who can’t believe their child would do anything wrong but I can’t believe she’d fake it 😆 (what am I on about, she’s a cat!

She is voluntarily resting so is clearly looking after herself. It is just very worrying to see her like this.

Can she run or jump? Cats are evil geniuses but we will assume she is truthful.

Randallthecat · 30/09/2022 20:50

Can do both but with a limp!

It’s a mystery but she’s jumping so it’s not holding her back in life.
