What can I apply to stop him scratching?

My cat had a severe case of field mites this summer, leading to infection from his scratching. Two rounds of treatment from the vets for him and the mites, infestation apparently gone. Poor cat is left with a crispy, bare patch (bigger than my palm) on his tummy and a really bad scabby section (about thumb size) on the side of his head. He is constantly licking his belly and scratching his head, so neither are getting better. He's white too, so the bloody head is raising concerns with the neighbours.

Other than the cone of shame, is there anything I can apply to stop him being so sore and scratching/licking the scabby bits? I'm certain there's no infection any more as he's back to being himself, but the scabbiness is awful!

Thanks

You can get body socks which would be tolerate better than a cone but tricky to find option for side of head. What has your vet suggested? Are you/they sure irritation is fully resolved?

I’ve seen soft padded donuts used instead of a cone - would that work?
