Kitten pooing in living room

Hi, new kitten owner to 12 week old kitten sisters. They have been home with us for 1 week now. Initially they were amazing with their litter tray but over the last couple of days one of them has started to poo in the corner of the living room occasionally. She mainly uses litter tray but occasionally does this.

The litter tray is cleaned regularly and poo picked up from tray as soon as they have done one.

I don't understand why she does this sometimes. Can anyone offer advice please?

Thank you!

How many litter trays do you have?
Ideally for two cats it's recommended you have three trays.

Oh wow. I did not know that! Thanks for the reply. Off shopping I go again lol.

Came to ask how many trays you had and how big 😃
Amazon have some small trays that are cheap and unobtrusive so get three or four until the kits are older. And pic?

I only have one tray at the moment on the advice of someone. Here are my kitties, Nancy and Jess 💕

The feets!
A few small trays until you (they) decide the best location and away from their food and water. Mine like the celect litter so it's not too expensive.

Aw. They're so cute.
We have two trays for our one cat. She'll wee in one and then poo half an hour later in the other one, as the weed in one is clearly not clean enough.
They can be very particular about where they go!
Hopefully an extra tray or two will sort it.

Sounds like they need another tray. But i wouldn't neccessarily get 3 atm, although some cats need that many. We have two kitties, and had two litter trays. However they were only ever using one. Did a bit of research and apparently because they are littermates, sometimes they prefer sharing. So we got one bigger tray that they both happily share.

Just a case of figuring out what your cats prefer!
