How do I treat this? He's had treatment from the vets 3 weeks ago I don't think it's worked. I've found some on him and it's making me feel physically sick. He goes out all day and comes home when he likes so I can't keep him in all the time. But I just don't know what to do. I'm cleaning 24.7 never seen one outside of his body but I'm worried. I love him to bits but I can't deal with fleas. Help please

Lots of lavender and peppermint herbs/plants/scents.

It’s getting colder and they’ll die off soon.

You need advocate, it works. My boy has never had fleas again after using it.

Don’t put any essential oils on a cat please!

This! 👆🏼

Advocate spot on between the shoulder blades every 4 weeks should do the trick! My cats have had fleas lots of times, but has never spread through the house, just stays on the cat! Good luck!

Bravecto from the vet.

Spray every surface, textile (both sides), nook and cranny with Indorex.

Job done.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 10/09/2022 22:15

Sorry, I meant oil in a burner, not on the cat!!

C0rnflake · 10/09/2022 22:16

Spray your house with indorex as prevention of it will make you feel better. Make sure you lock the cat out for a few hours.

VanillaIce1 · 10/09/2022 22:32

Thank you will do all of this, this week whilst kids are at school. We've not long moved from a flat into a house with a garden and he's gone from being an indoor cat to loving the outside!

Stronghold works a treat. And you need to treat your house as well as the cat, he might be picking them up inside rather from outdoors.

VanillaIce1 · 10/09/2022 23:12

I don't think it's inside as I've never seen any in the house and no one's ever been bit. They just seem to be on him mainly his neck I've seen 2 now Sad

Eek following this as seen cat was really scratching this morning, looked at my calandar and realised i should have given him advantage on the 1st September and its now the 10th! I immediately advantaged him and checked him over and there was flea poop on him (did the water test on loo roll). Hes recently started venturing to the front garden and has made himself a nest in this long grass/meadow type area opposite us. Previously he always stayed in the back garden).

Ive now noticed a couple of itchy bites (i think thats what they are!) on my shins. Terrifed they have infested the whole house. Ive hoovered everywhere today and started on the hot wash bedding and bought a house flea spray (we live in a small place so im going to have to do one room at a time so i can shut the door and keep the cat out of it. Did our bedroom tonight). Is there any chance i wont need an exterminator?!

Ive read let the cat wonder round as any fleas coming into contact with him now hes treated will die

AnnaMagnani · 11/09/2022 08:24

If you see one flea, the depressing fact is they and their eggs are probably all over your house. They can also lie dormant for years.

We hadn't noticed any fleas except on the cat, but when I went mad with the Indorex we were gratified to notice dying fleas around the house.

One spray is supposed to do a 3 bed house - I used about 5!

I had treated the cat but it hadn't worked. Vet said this was common and why they only sold Bravecto (which was also what MN had recommended) after the Bravecto the fleas were gone.

Greeneyegirl · 21/09/2022 12:12

Does anyone know if 11 days after treating with advantage that the cat should still have small amounts of flea dirt on him. He doesn't scratch anymore and seems happy enough but when he sleeps on something white i notice one or two curls of flea dirt left behind (only occasionally). Is this happening just before the fleas die?!
