Hi there
I have an indoor cat who has supervised garden time and for the first time seems to have contracted fleas - but here's the issue.
She has what looks like flea dirt on her belly and around her neck, she's a ragdoll and very fluffy, and it's only on her skin. Small brown specks, none in the actual fur and it seems stuck to her skin. It's really hard to wash off and doesn't move with combing.
I have not seen a single flea on her in the 3 weeks since I noticed the flea dirt.
I think I saw one flea on the carpet, but other than that there's been no sightings at all.
She's had spot on, a course of tablets, I've treated the house, washed all soft furnishings and Vaccum twice a day.
When brushing her, she has dandruff so white specks appear but there is no trace of dirt or fleas when brushed at all.
I have managed to wash the specks off her skin, they were gone for 3 days and then reappeared- but there's still no sign of actual fleas anywhere and I don't understand where they can be?! I've once again treated, washed, hoovered - the specks are still there, but I have searched every inch of her fur, crawled on my carpets and there is no trace of them. We haven't been bitten. I cannot understand what is going on - can anyone advise what I'm meant to do? Are they still here? Could these brown specks be something else??
Just to add I called the vet and they advised it sounded like flea dirt and I followed their advice to treat. It's not making any sense as to how they are possibly getting back on her or why I can't see any?!
