Firstly sorry for the mess in the background, I was just wondering if anyone could help identify my cats possible crossbreed, I think she maybe part Maine coon or Norwegian forest cat? We've had her since she was 1, she was a rescue cat and was a street cat before she came to us, I'm just curious really as she's such a beautiful girl.

She's a long haired moggy - the best kind of cat Smile

She’s gorgeous! But I would tend to agree with mountainsunset, can’t really see any Siberian/Norwegian/Maine Coon in her. I take it her ears don’t have tufts at the top, do they?
If you really want to know for sure you could do a DNA test on her, I think a few companies offer it. No idea how reliable it is though.

I can see what you mean, there’s a similarity to a Norwegian Forest with those slanted greenish eyes and the triangular face — and the floof. A distant ancestor perhaps! She’s 100% gorgeous though.

My brother has a cat like this and yes we think there is something like those two in him. He has the same intense coat and the tufts between his paddies. He does have though quite a ruff/bib at the front.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 03/09/2022 23:22

I suspect there’s some FC in there, possibly Wegie or Sib.

She is a beautiful longer haired domestic shorthair (aka moggy). Which all cats are who are not registered pedigree. I have a Norwegian, they have very distinct features. The ears are completely different. The face is more triangular profile. The coat is also different. My Norwegian is only 2 so his coat isn't fully developed but it is very long. The eyes are also very different. Of course all Moggy cats are of mixed ancestry, so could have a throwback. Lots of people throw Norwegian mix about having never actually seen one in real life. They look completely different to a moggy.

Meant to add to my first post - my male cat has a coat exactly like this except he's black. He was sold as a Maine Coon (not to us, we rescued him) but he most definitely isn't one Grin

She just looks like a moggy to me. I've met Siberian forests and Maine Coons and I can't say she really looks like either. Lots of moggies have long coats and fur between their pads.

Lonecatwithkitten · 04/09/2022 07:30

The biggest thing with Siberians is toe fluff it is incredibly long mine has fluff around 8 cm long in the winter.
Pedigree cats have more expensive insurance in fact even putting half pedigree on you insurance. The breed of your cat on the vets record must match how you insured them or any claim will be rejected.
I own the Siberian and two moggies currently, had bsh and many other moggies before. The moggies give me far more pleasure - embrace the moggy.

Thank you for your replies, looks like she probably is simply a long haired moggy, I may still do a DNA one day as there is just something different about her in my eyes, she's 1 of 5 cats that we have, all rescues so all mixed breeds but she just seems to stand out as different, either way she is our beautiful queen 😻

Nothing 'simply' about being a long haired moggy. They are the very kings and queens of the cat world 😁

Your Queen is very regal and a beauty.😍
