Cats and central heating this winter

I have been working from home the last couple of years and this winter will be back in the office, so my cat will be home alone from about 7:30am until about 7pm for three to four days a week.

I am worried she will be bored, lonely and cold! With gas prices sky rocketing I am reluctant to boost the heating during the day so have bought a few self heating blankets for her to sleep in.

other just be in the same boat - anyone else planning ahead? And if so what are you doing?

I have a Bagpuss hot water bottle cover. I didn't get it for the cat but, well, you can't tell a cat where to sleep.

My cat has one of those igloo type beds which stays cosy with her body heat. Her favourite though has always been her favourite chair with a big thick fleecy blanket to curl up in.

I spotted a self heating pet mat in Aldi this weekend for £3.99 so got one of those for her to try, as heating will be going on more sparingly this winter. It makes crinkly noises when she steps on it, so she's a bit cautious of it, but has been to sit on it twice, so I think it's a hit!

She also has those toys you can put treats in, and she has to nudge and tip over to get them out, for when she is being left a while. But mostly I think she just sleeps or sits and looks out the window - same as when people are in the house!

When I first started going back to the office after WFH, she was a bit fussy when I got home, but now she doesn't care if I've been gone 10 minutes or 10 hours - other than wanting her tea!

@Anystarinthesky Thank you, I think so too.
