Kittens with conjunctivitis, how long does it last?

Our poor cat was killed a few weeks ago and we were painfully gutted.
Theres still long waiting lists in the area for rescue cats so I put a deposit down on two kittens and asked them to hold them for a couple more weeks while we mourn the death of our very loved boy cat.

When we put the deposit down, one of them had an eye infection but they had been to the vet and were giving them treatment and it was because cat litter had irritated it, they said.

When he came to collecting them yesterday both cats had an infection in one eye and they have treatment for conjunctivitis.

They said the vet warned them it could take weeks to heal.

Their eyes look very swollen and painful.

I bought the cats anyway, vowing to treat the poor things and get them on the mend.

Ive insured them both and will be making a vets appointment ASAP in the week whilst carrying on their treatment.

They are otherwise happy, eating and playing.

Will the infection really take weeks to heal?

Im also treating with cooked boiled water every couple of hours making sure not to double dip, etc.

Has anyone got any experience of this?

Yes - eye issues can take a long, long time to heal unfortunately.

Why on earth did you take them?
