Does anyone actually see their cats in summer time

I think I have 2 cats called Bella and Rosie but I hardly see them anymore since it's been warm, they grace my presence at meal times and off they go again, I don't get much lap cuddles anymore. Behind our house is a big wooded area so I know they are safe but yeah I kind of miss them.
My other half dragged his feet at letting us have 2 cats, so here me out, I think I should adopt 2 more black cats and he would never know as he still can't tell the difference between the 2 we have, so I think I could get away with it, what do you think, could I get away with it?

Mine stays in all day in the same position on the sofa, more or less. I know she does go out at night though and kindly brings me in 'presents'.

Purplecatshopaholic · 27/08/2022 13:43

Defo adopt more!
Mine all stay around more in warm weather as they like lying on the garden furniture. That, and they clearly CBA moving much!

DessicatedWithering · 27/08/2022 13:46

You'd get away with two more until it gets cold and your DP wakes up with four on the bed on his feet.

GoodbyeErinsborough · 27/08/2022 13:49

One of mine is hardly ever at home in the summer. He just comes in to eat then leaves again

UnboxedThoughts · 27/08/2022 13:53

I have a cat like this, but no woodland nearby for her, alas. She loses a bit if weight over summer as well, but always gains it back again when the nights draw in and she isn't out and about so much. She's fine, it's just her way.

takingmytimeonmyride · 27/08/2022 13:54

I only see mine in Summer at feeding time. Other than that he's sunning himself somewhere. Occasionally out the front, and I am allowed to pet him if he's in the mood.

When the weather turns cold he will be in all the time. His favourite place is on top of the radiator in the living room, or one my sons beds.

The problem with getting 2 more cats is that you'd still have no cats in summer and lots of cats in winter.

Ffsjustltb · 27/08/2022 13:54

Haha. You could try. You can guarantee all four would turn up together as soon as it gets cold. My latest cat is a complete home buddy, no matter the weather, she is always in or near. Others have wandered miles, so it's just different cats' personalities. Yours are lucky to have a wood. What fun.

I tend to wear both of ours as fashion accessories most of the year round whatever the weather.

No, mummy doesn't not want two cats with 102° body temperatures on her knee when it's 36 outside thank you very much.

(Disclaimer - I know I'm not their mummy).

Grin

But if you get 2 more cats, they might also be outside cats in the summer, so you'll still not see them.

We have 5 and 2 of them only really come in at night in good weather. We got the Sureflap connect cat flap so we knew they'd been coming in at night and were still OK.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/08/2022 14:33

You’ll see them in winter. If you got more they’d only be out all summer too doing cat stuff.

Lorddenning1 · 27/08/2022 17:51

Potential drip feed, he works nights so I might just about get away with it, but we would have to name the new cats Bella and Rosie as well Grin

I'd go for it. Just act surprised when this happens.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/08/2022 18:25

Mine still think I need a pair of earmuffs at 3am and it's 25 degrees in my room. Nice to know they worry that I maybe cold. But really I'm fine!

Issummeroveralready · 27/08/2022 18:30

Mine snuggles up on my bed which is lovely. But yes, out a lot in the summer. She's never been a lap cat tboigh

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/08/2022 18:32

Our cat - affectionately known as CatBastard - has hardly been seen this summer. He’s coming in each night to eat, but that’s it. Dh is fretting about him, but I’m sure we will see more of him, once the weather gets colder.
