Cat wheezing

Over the past couple of weeks there's been the odd occasion where one of my cats has started wheezing very heavily through his nose for a short while before going back to breathing and acting normally. He gets very close to the ground and it sounds almost chesty. I've got him in at the vets tomorrow because it's happened again tonight but wondered if anyone had any ideas what this could be or had experienced anything similar? Thanks in advance

Possibly a hairball.

Thanks @WillowintheUK, I considered that but he isn't sick after the episodes and he's never had problems with hairballs before 🤔

My cats always did this, exactly as you describe.
They were never sick, but coughed alarmingly for a few seconds, swallowed, then carried on as normal. It was always a furball with them.
Hope he's ok

It would be good if you could record these episodes for the vet to see. I emailed them over later once I caught one.

I bought hairball paste just in case. We eliminated things that would be aggravating like essential oil burners, flowers, air freshners, don't smoke, no perfume, etc.
