Cat stuck up on roof- help!

Urgent help much appreciated!

A good friend's cat is stuck on the roof of a townhouse. She's not come down since 9am. Based in Lytham St Anne's, the RSPCA said they'd phone back, fire brigade said not their area of expertise (understandably!) - does anyone have any other ideas of who might be able to help? Given how long she's been up there and the day is passing by we are concerned this is getting more urgent.

Thanks Smile

Oh fgs they do the most stupid things. Can you see how she got up there? Because that’s how they often get back down too.

Ohdearnotagain76 · 17/08/2022 16:12

How old is cat? Are you sure it’s actually stuck not just scared? How did it get up their?

CravenRaven · 17/08/2022 16:19

I've heard of roofing companies helping out?

Also tree surgeons?

Antarcticant · 17/08/2022 16:20

Cats' Protection might have advice/a contact?

Leafy3 · 17/08/2022 16:29

How did she get up there? Assuming she made it up from a wall or lower roof? If so, she should just eventually make their own way down.

Our local fire brigade will come out but only with a referral from rspca first and they won't do so for 24hrs because cats do usually figure it out!

Put some smelly food out her for and be patient a bit longer

Logoplanter · 17/08/2022 16:30

No help but I'd have thought the fire department would assist. Surely they've got ladders long enough to get up there 🤔 I appreciate that it's not a great use of resources but it's disappointing they haven't been more helpful.

ItsDinah · 17/08/2022 16:32

I read that RSPCA will not refer to fire brigade or assist a "rescue" of a healthy cat until it has been stuck for 48 hours. This is not just because most will come down of their own accord within that time, but because they can be panicked by rescue attempts and some have been killed because of this.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/08/2022 17:02

I thought fire brigades do assist is they can because it's good training for them!

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 17/08/2022 17:13

How did it get up there, through a window presumably?
Could they open the window and put a plank of wood half way out so cat has a platform to jump onto?

trevthecat · 17/08/2022 17:14

Try searching for homeward bound on fb. They are a local charity who will try to help

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 17/08/2022 17:14

Big box of Dreamies and get shaking..

trevthecat · 17/08/2022 17:15

Also, I'm local if there is anything I can do to help

PeloAddict · 17/08/2022 17:18

I'm also fairly local
Tree surgeons, building/scaffolding companies are worth a call

There is a man called Tim on commonside in ansdell who has a cherry picker. Maybe something like that? I don't know his number though

MallampatiCatty · 17/08/2022 17:56

Thanks all, as always your help is greatly appreciated. Window cleaners said ladders don't go up that high! It's a tall townhouse!

@trevthecat thank you! He is very local to us - you're a star. We have found Tim's fb page and are about to phone 🤞🏼

Dreamies are being rattled!!! Unfortunately a neighbour popped a ladder up and she just went higher.

I shall keep you posted Smile

Hope Tim can come to the rescue.
Good luck, OP.
🤞

MallampatiCatty · 17/08/2022 18:38

Tim's equipment is on loan 😩 homeward bound were lovely but recommended Tim who isn't able to help. Any other suggestions much appreciated!

Not any farmers around with cherry pickers? I guess scaffolders take too long to get the scaffolding up?

Is the top window still open in case it makes a surprise re entrance?

An idea - if you have such a window and the cat is willing?

ShesNotTheMessiah · 17/08/2022 19:09

Any local window cleaners, or TV aerial engineers?

trevthecat · 17/08/2022 19:26

Do Pembertons have a cherry picker?! Could homeward bound not ask on the fb page for suggestions?

That's like my plank of wood idea.

MallampatiCatty · 17/08/2022 21:16

The ideas to get her out would be ideal if we could contact the neighbour with the skylight in the roof but unfortunately we can't yet

A man kindly came round from the cat rescue and said it's too high for a ladder.

We are checking pembertons out and phoned the rspca back again, it's looking like poor Luna will be stuck outside tonight now though given the time :(

Many thanks to you all. Tomorrow is a new day - here's hoping we can do it. And for those who love a diagram, she is stuck where the arrow is. Tricky!!!

Quick update - she is home!!! Kind neighbour grabbed her from the skylight. Thank you to all for your ideas!!! The kindness of you all is so so appreciated by us all, especially Luna 🐱

She’ll see us all same time tomorrow when she tests her hypothesis that it’s ok to go on the roof.

Im glad she’s home, her poor owner will have a few grey hairs after tonight.
