Heated throw-help please

I have a cat and I love the adorable bastard very much.
I am also on a low income, have fibromyalgia and need to stay warm this winter.
I have a heated throw but as adorable bastard loves kneading and drooling over anything made of fleece. I didn't use it last winter. I don't think I will have a choice this winter.
Help please?
Picture of adorable bastard attached.

Put another 'sacrificial' throw over it? Maybe have 2 so that when one is in the wash you have a spare? Adorable bastard indeed!

Use an old duvet cover - put the throw inside it like a very thin duvet and snip a while in the duvet cover for the electric lead to poke through - if the fastenings are in the wrong place. Bonus of never having to risk washing the throw!

Sorry. While should hole. Fat thumbs today.

That is BRILLIANT!

The throws are washable. Duvet cover idea is genius though.

Thank you!
I really just don’t like the idea of machine washing electrics, this just means a light dab with a sponge if something manages to seep through. Watched to many of those government safety films! Hence the use of an old duvet cover.

Our cat LOVES the heated throw. I just chuck it in the wash, and we grudgingly share it on cold nights.

On occasion I have come home from work to find DP has put the throw on for her while we’ve been out all day.

I have no problem with him liking the throw I am just very scared he will put a claw through it or drool on it and electrocute himself and me but a thick cotton duvet cover might indeed be the answer. Will definitely give that a go!!
Thank you everyone will report back if it's an utter disaster.

I think there will be a step down transformer in the power cord, I don’t think it’s 240v power. My guess would be 12v which wouldn’t kill him.

Anyway he’ll end up with his own throw so he can lie on it uninterrupted by your unnecessary trips to the loo or to make a cup of tea or any other behaviour that disrupts his 6hr post breakfast nap.

Yarnasaurus · 06/08/2022 00:10

Definitely put a cotton duvet cover on yours to hide the fleece, perhaps also get him his own fleecy heated mat?

IdiotCreatures · 06/08/2022 11:23

His own fleecy heated mat is also a fab idea!

My little monster loves the heated fleece and thinks its hers. No harm has come to either of us and I love sharing it with her. 😀

Toddlerteaplease · 06/08/2022 11:45

Mine is apparently machine washable. Have you checked the instructions. My cats adore mine!

Toddlerteaplease · 06/08/2022 11:46

My girls had a pet remedy heated pad. I had a custom made fleece cover for it. I think they found it too hot. They much prefer my throw!

IdiotCreatures · 06/08/2022 19:04

No problem with him getting it dirty or drooling on it. I just really don't want him ending up injured as a result of his devotion to acting like anything made of fleece is a return to kittenhood and if he kneads and drools enough, milk will appear!!
A thick cotton duvet cover will undoubtedly solve the problem and he will have access to any of the five or six other fleece blankets (and PJ's and dressing gowns) to achieve his kitten hood fetish with!!
