Not really sure what I'm asking but, bear with me!

We have a lovely two year old black cat, she's a joy and just wonderful. A friend of mine took in a cat a few months ago who had a surprise litter.

The kittens are all healthy and thriving and ready for new homes soon. One kitten out of an almost entirely black litter is completely Snow White, with one green eye and one blue! The quirkiest sweetest kitten you've ever seen.

My friend had planned to keep this particular kitten, however she's now changed her mind as she doesn't think she really has the space / time for another.

And now I can't stop thinking that we could have him! She says she will start looking for a new home next week, but has asked me twice now if I would think about having him. I've had many cats over the decades, have the room, time, money etc.

I don't know why I'm hesitant? Perhaps because our girl is so settled and happy, or just because it's always a big thing taking on another animal isn't it? Although when I had three it was really no different to having one, once you have a cat it's game over may as well have more 🤣

So someone talk to me about pros and cons, would you give this wee boy a home?

Sounds gorgeous! I think they tend to be deaf on their blue eyed side, so they might be a bit more risky by roads ect.

Bonus pics 😩 I mean look at his little face!

Yes deafness is at the back of my mind. He's been vet checked and jabbed but no hearing test that I'm aware of, I'll ask her again to make sure. Thank you for reminding me!

Take him....he's stunning

I wouldn't be able to resist that little face. With one black cat and one white cat it will be game over for trying to hide cat hair on your clothes though 😁.

Lovely puss cat! We have a white old man (he’s 15 in December) with one blue eye & one green eye. He’s not deaf though (although he rarely listens lol).

He’s called Ziggy in homage to David Bowie & his (kind of!) different coloured eyes!

The only thing I would suggest is you use a zinc stick (like surfers use) on his nose & ears as they are very prone to sunburn & skin cancer; our vet says Ziggy is the oldest cat he’s ever known with both ears & no amputations!

TAKE HiM!!!!

i command you!

We’ve got a little one just like him. His hearing is fine and he’s a delight.

Aw thank you for all the replies! I really appreciate them.

I'm going over my friends way tomorrow so I've asked her if I can pop in, I'll see how I feel again when I give him a cuddle. Honestly, I'm pretty sure I'm bringing him home... I just wish I knew why I feel so nervous!

Is this a thing? Feeling anxious about taking on a new cat? I've had several all at once before, three at one time in fact and I don't recall ever feeling like I really have to think it over and over.

Someone reassure me 😩😂

It's normal to be nervous when you bring home a new pet, but it's so worth it Grin

He's gorgeous so you definitely need to take him or I will Wink

PaddleBoardingMomma · 06/08/2022 11:10

Heading out soon to see him!

Any advice on introducing the kitten to our cat if I bring him home? I can't remember for the life of me what I did the last times! I think I just brought the new one home and left them to it and never had a problem 🤣 I don't suppose I'll be that lucky again, or perhaps I'm misremembering!

Awwwwwwww he’s lovely!!

sunsetsandsandybeaches · 06/08/2022 18:48

Aww I love the name Grin

We just let ours get on with it (we have three, all unrelated) and have never had an issue. Our youngest is two now, the oldest seven and never a single fight.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 06/08/2022 20:00

Congratulations, Nigel is lovely!
