New kitten questions

I know the rules pictures required but my question is related to the reason why I don’t have any pictures yet.

I brought home 2 new kittens yesterday, they’re 8 weeks old. They immediately went to hide under the sofa and that’s pretty much where they’ve stayed. Though they have come out to eat at some point overnight. It’s dark under there and without shining a torch, which we don’t want to do we can’t see them.

Do I just leave them
under there for as long as it takes to be comfortable? Just worried about socialisation really.

Leave them, they are tiny babies in a big scary new environment. They will come out when they are ready. I didn't meet one of mine for a week when I brought her home. Didn't stop her from absolutely ruling the roost and managing me with a paw of iron though. 🤣

Try sitting on the floor quietly next to where they are hiding, maybe with a little bit of a nice smelling treat and a toy. Just wait for them to come to you. When they do stay sitting and chat quietly to them and let them explore you.

We’ve been sitting on the floor quietly today and they are getting braver and coming out when we’re there a bit more, sniffed us a little too, so hopefully going in the right direction.

Lovely, enjoy. You may be back in a week or so asking how you can get them to go back to being less brave again 😂 Prepare to feel sorry for your curtains.
And we still would love photos 😍
