My rescue cat came home about three months ago. All good, very happy cat and humans. He has full run of the house except the bedrooms. He is happy with these boundaries.
Except my bedroom door. It started when he was first allowed to roam overnight rather than being shut in the kitchen (where food, water, litter and toys are freely avaible). He would meow at my door, and when that didn't work would scratch it. I would then get up, and with no talking, plonk him back in the kitchen. It only happened when I was in my room.
He's now progressed to door scratching even when I'm not in my room. He ignores all other bedroom doors, even if the kids are in their rooms.
At the moment, I'm distracting him when he goes near, and removing and ignoring when he scratches. Any other tips?
