Litter tracking is driving me nuts!

Think I'm going to use wood pellets but has anyone tried a honeycomb litter mat to stop the tracking?

A litter mat helps, we also have a top entry tray. The lid surface helps remove the litter from their feet (it just drops back inside the tray).

We use the wood pellets and dont have any issue with tracking. Cays seem to like it, but its what they used at the shelter so they were used to it.

Have to say with the pellets though.. the kittens like taking out the pellets and then batting them around the floor as if its a toy...! Easy enough to sweep up though as they're bigger.

I've got a honey comb mat and it really does help.

I had a honeycomb mat but one of ours took to poohing on it

We have been through all permutations to find the litter tray solution for them .
At the moment (cross fingers) peace reigns .
They are complex little mammals and don't answer when I ask "Erm.....why?"
Yes there's a bit of tracking but its easy enough to vacuum up.

Honeycomb mat is essential

I have two large honeycomb mats and mine just rise to the challenge ...

WildFlowerBees · 25/07/2022 14:17

Which honeycomb mats do you have for those that have them? Litter was scattered down the hallway this morning. Girl cat likes to dig to Oz then zoom out of her tray and scream around the house. It's her I've had a poo dance.

Have you got a covered tray ?

Mine have a mahoosive tray (its an underbed storage tray so much much bigger than anything I could find for pets) plus an XL covered tray .
99% of the time they ignore the covered one , but if FemaleCat uses it she scrapes the inside walls like a demon.

Their "Pooh Dance" involves them sauntering past , dig dig scrape scrape then sauntering back outside You might want to fix that , yeah ?

Getting a top entry tray was game changer for us. Litter tracking reduced by (I estimate) over 90% instantly. I have a honeycomb mat, which gets most of the rest. I highly recommend getting a top entry box.

We have one tray with a cheapy mat, and one without. Every morning, without fail, I have to sweep the entire floor in the room without the mat. The one with, we get a little bit, but no where near as much, and usually in a contained area. I wish I could add a mat to the other one, but the placement of it means people would probably trip.
