Is he going to overheat?

I keep reading the advice about keeping cats cool, it's going really well Grin
So far mine is
Sat on me
Sat on a thermal blanket
Avoiding the fan

Confused he's an older boy and I'm worrying he's going to overheat but he's insisting on clinging to me

Is he going to overheat?

Aww he’s lovely! I’m sure he would let you know if he was uncomfortable! He looks a very cuddly cat!

I gave mine a wash with a wet washcloth earlier, he loves it and it cooled him down. He purred like mad 😊

I tried that and he just clambered back on me afterwards like a furry hot water bottle Hmm

He's in the kitchen/living room overnight so there's a lino floor which is cool, and a million other sleeping spots but he's insisting on sleeping on the warmest places

Didn't cats get domesticated in Egypt from African wildcats? He's probably thinking it's just about reached a civilised temperature.

I mean he doesn't catch anything or hunt and guards me if I go in the garden so he's not the most normal cat
Pushed him off me earlier and got an injured look and a paw on my leg

No cat will ever make its self uncomfortable!

Your cat isn’t going to overheat - here in Spain where temperatures regularly reach the mid-40s we’re not dabbing our cats with damp cloths. They’re desert animals ffs. They find a shady spot or a cool tiled floor and just lounge about when it gets really hot.

Just ensure that he's got drinking water, but he'll be fine. My old boy (about 19) still likes to sit on my fleecy dressing gown in this weather

It’s very hot where I am. Has been all summer. One cat is in a bush, the other lying on the grass in full sun. There’s loads of shade. They go to shade when they want.

They seem completely unbothered by hot temperatures at all, and would be horrified if I added water to him.

when it’s -15 in winter they also don’t care and choose to sit outside half the time

I think cats are pretty hardy
