It's a new little cat round here, very sweet and friendly. It's come into the garden and twice has appeared in the house. The problem is that we have a JRT. He is very fast and I would hate them to connect. Both times dcat was in the house ddog was shut in DH's office with him and I got it out. I can try to shut doors but we are a bungalow and I think dcat could get in through open windows. Also, ddog goes into the garden, of course. IDK who owns it - lots of potentials nearby. I could put something on local FB page alerting owners, but what can they do, and what should I say? TIA

Maybe next time it comes in put your dog on the lead and show it the cat, the problem will be solved for you. It won’t want to come in again once it sees your JRT hurtling towards it!
I think you just need to chase it out every time it comes in rather than be friendly towards it, it will soon learn and it’s for its own good.
If your dog isn’t on a lead would it stop if you gave commands?

OK, that's an idea, thanks.

No, he wouldn't obey if there was a cat involved, I don't think. He is always, without fail, on a lead when we are out, partly for that reason.

OK, cat appeared outside our glass door and I got ddog and put him on the inside. He went ballistic, cat scarpered. So fingers crossed, that's done the trick. Simple! Thanks x
