Moving house - GPS tracker?

We have just moved house and are currently spread across both houses, 2 roads apart. Cat is at old house as we are doing so much work at the new house. We need to bring him over in the next few days but keeping him in for a couple of weeks is just not going to be realistic with all the work going on here.

I’m looking at getting a GPS collar so if he does do a runner / goes back to the old house, we can find and retrieve him. He doesn’t wear a collar currently so have to hope for the best!! Anyone have a recommendation?

Any tips? He is 11, generally speaking only goes out to do his business and sunbathe in the garden. The only possible option to keep him in will be shutting him in the bathroom during the day as there’s work in all the other rooms so doors and windows will be open, and that seems mean!

Get a catio, you can knock it up really quickly so he is safe. or book him into a cattery?
If he generally just goes in the (old) garden to go to the toilet then you really don’t want him attempting to walk back to the old house across roads, it would be kinder to set up his bed and tray in the bathroom than let him risk death trying to get back to the old house.
