Is my cat depressed?

DD (11) has gone to stay with her grandparents for a few days. She left yesterday. Dcat spent who usually sleeps on her bed spent the night under my eldest's bed. He has not come downstairs for breakfast yet. I took a treat stick upstairs to him to try and tempt him and he turned his head away. Why are cats so weird?

Not depressed - sulking. If we go away overnight, DCat gives us the cold shoulder all of the next day.

One of mine gave my cat sitter a minor heart attack recently when she refused to move or eat for 2 days. She was about to be carted off to the vet (she has a serious health problem so fair enough) but then decided to come around and eat. I was on the phone to my cat sitter calming her down, as I reckoned the little brat was doing it on purpose as her emotional support person (me!) had abandoned her and she was trying to guilt trip us all. Yours is probably just trying it on as well. Don't fall for it!!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's not ill. They are such peculiar creatures. It's strange because we can all go away overnight and he isn't bothered. Eats all of his food.

Probably sulking. My cats wait at top of drive for me coming home everyday even if dh and DD are home. I know this as I can see them waiting on cameras 😂Boy cat waits for cars to come down road, not making any move, but as soon as my car comes he comes running towards my car. Stupid cat but I love him.
