Advice re territory

Darling cat is 14. He is a large, confident cat but I appreciate he is getting old.

A beautiful, equally huge, long haired tabby has appeared this week. He is clearly endeavouring to take over darling cat's very close territory. On the back steps, sunning himself on the garden table. We can hear regular cat spats through dusk, dawn and the day. He can't get in as darling cat has a microchips flap.

Any advice about how this glorious beast can be discouraged please. Darling cat is 7.5 kilos - this one is bigger.

Thank you.

Water pistol? He needs to be persuaded that his new shiny territory isn't as inviting as he thought it was.

Try running at him shouting, that's what I do with cheeky local invaders.
