Introducing a new kitten

I already have a 3 year old cat and in the next couple of weeks will be getting a kitten. Felt confident that all would be fine until speaking to a family member and now feeling nervous.
We plan to introduce them slowly and have the ability to lock them apart when we are not around and during the night. Separate feeding and toilet areas sorted. I work from home and we are normally never out the house for more than 4 hours
Current cats personality is friendly on its own terms mostly stays out the way chilling in the bedroom. He is an indoor cat and are plan for the kitten to be the same.
Any words of advice, things we need to consider?

No replies! Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing 😂either I have it all covered or people don’t want to share their tales of horror. How about if I promise to share a kitten photo when it arrives in exchange for advice?

We got two kittens 3 weeks apart last year and even that was more difficult than I imagined!

I would keep them totally apart for a few days and then scent swap, there are a few guides online which should help.

We had approx 1-2 weeks of difficulty but it was all worth it in the end

Aww what a gorgeous photo.
And thanks for the advice, will google the scent swapping thing. I am fully expecting some crazy but it’s good to know it should settle after a couple of weeks.

We have a 15 year old cat and introduced a kitten a couple of months ago. Kept them in separate rooms and scent swapped then gradually introduced. They've now got the run of the house together and although the older one looks at me occasionally like she's thinking "what have you done" they get on ok. It'll be easier when the kitten has been fully vaccinated and neutered and can go outside :-)

Caught them sleeping together!
