Think it could be time..

Hello, I'm currently in the car park of the vets waiting to see the vet with my cat. She is 16 and recently diagnosed with kidney disease following being really poorly. She took to the renal diet well and was doing great for a few weeks apart from a lump on her tail. This lump grew very big very quickly so last week she has her tail amputated. She recovered well in the first few days but has since gone downhill, losing her appetite and we've noticed another large lump on her side. She has also lost 250g in the last 10 days. The vet has suggested we could take more blood to see what's going on. I feel like I don't want to keep poking and prodding her of this is the end, currently waiting for consultant vet appt at 5. Don't know why I'm writing this really, maybe to kill the time or for any words of advice. I've had her since a kitten and concerned this could be time. Thanks for reading.

Good luck. It’s so hard knowing what to do for them.

She's 16, an old lady. 250g is a lot of weight for a cat to lose in such a short space of time. Is she fit enough, and is it fair to put her through another procedure to remove another lump?

Thank you both. Sadly it was her time. I stayed with her and held her and am at peace that she is now over the bridge.

You did your best. She had a long and happy life. Maybe you could offer another kitten a happy home too?
