Can I stop my outdoor from going out?

After hearing about another cat being killed on the road I live on, I’m terrified of my cat being run over. She’s 3 and loves going outside, but I don’t want to take the risk any more. Would it be cruel to keep her in from now on and re-introduce a litter tray? I can’t bear anything happening to her.

Could you cat proof your garden or install a catio?

My cat is 8 months old and an indoor cat at present. We plan to block our narrow patio with a cat proof fence. Waiting for it to be fitted. I am worried about our busy road so understand where you are coming from.

Mine was killed on the road and I regret it every day. Cat proofing doesn’t have to be expensive. You’d need enrichment activities too or just extra play time, learning tricks, rotation of toys etc.

You could install a catio or cat-proof your garden.

Live on a busy road, cat proofed ten years ago. Such peace of mind
