Vocal cats singing me awake at 4.30am

I have two oriental cats. One is very vocal and since it’s become light in the morning she starts shouting/singing at our bedroom door. Although yesterday morning they were chasing a mouse outside our bedroom door. We used to let them sleep with us but they kept us awake and also they are small and DH was worried about squashing them!. I think I need to lock them up downstairs which I know they will be very unhappy about as they won’t have access to the sofa they normally sleep on. I can’t muzzle them can I…. I’m getting very sleep deprived and grumpy. Any ideas?

Mine are locked downstairs overnight from about 11pm. It's been their routine since they came to us though, which maybe makes things easier.

I wouldn't tolerate constant night wakings and it always surprises me how many cat owners seem to just accept it 😳

Yes, cats are most active at dawn and dusk but that doesn't mean you need to accept just never getting proper sleep again!

We did lock them up when little but one of the cats is very highly strung. She used to wee round the house when we let them roam she stopped weeing on beds, front door mats. We locked our last cat downstairs. I can’t face the wee issue again worse than the singing!
