Getting ready for our rescues !

I'm so exited. Went to visit kittens at the animal rescue centre - but fell in love with an older sibling pair. Male and female- they have been rescued from Ukraine!
Exited to get all they need. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations?
My last cats were from kitten age and settled easily, want to make things as lovely as possible for our new gorgeous arrivals!!

I rehomed a pair of boy siblings at age 6 and 7. They were both so different in how they settled. We had feliway diffusers plugged in and tried to limit them to one room initially. Younger boy was very calm and wanted to explore, older one found a place to hide. I think the key thing was just giving them somewhere they could feel safe and being in the room so they could get used to us but letting the cats come to us rather than forcing them to be petted etc until they were ready.

Had my two for 7 weeks - mother & son! We set up the Utility room as a safe space for them, huge cardboard box they could hide in etc! They climbed up into the tumbler dryer & stayed there for 24 hours!

They are unrecognisable now! Racing round the house chasing each other, constantly playing! They are just lovely!

Thank you for the replies ! The shelter have recommended keeping them in one room and giving them space. Have been to pets at home and got litter tray, bed and food. Picking them up tomorrow!

Have you got a carrier? Maybe some pet remedy to relax them. Be guided by them. They may hide or they may want to check out their new kingdom straight away.

I rescued 2 sibling Persians that were banished to a dark garage when their owner had a baby🙄 they were petrified for 4 weeks, never came out from under the bed & I could see their little hearts beating when I went near them! Just let them have that safe room & they ended up the most loving, happy kitties in the world! They used to look at lovingly at me & purr!followed me everywhere! Now I’m crying, I miss them☹️

Good luck, they might be scared/wonder what’s going on at first but they will settle & you sound very prepared🐈😺
