Aggressive Bengal constantly attacking cats

Anyone have any tips for dissuading a very large, very aggressive Bengal from my garden? Have tried super soaker but he really isn’t bothered, just turns and slowly walks away.

I have two cats who have basically rubbed along fine with the many neighbourhood cats for years. About 6 months ago a neighbour got two Bengal kittens. The male is now mature and basically spends his time spraying in my garden, lying around and attacking my two cats ( he’s even so confident he will vomit up his cat food).

He is absolutely huge. One of my cats was already nervous so is now even more so, but basically runs away. My other cat - who is a tiny Burmese (3.2kg) instead fights back. Just got back from the vets for the third time in 4 weeks with infected bites.

anyone got any ideas? I did explore cat proofing the garden but it’s a no go. My only other thought is I will have to keep my two in but I’m really reluctant to do this.

He is terrorising other cats as well. I’m generally an animal lover but have to admit this is one cat I’d really like to never see again!

@stargirl1701 - I just checked it out on Amazon and it has offers for new but also ‘used - very good condition’ 😂

If you and your neighbours want to take action you can do it undet the Nuisance Laws

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, a local authority has the power to prosecute a person where an animal is “kept in such a place or manner as to be prejudicial to health or a nuisance”.

First stop your Local Authority. You have at least one vet's bill as proof

And a ban could be coming soon anyway

If you read the article you linked to, a ban likely wouldn't impact bengals as they're now at least several generations removed from their "big cat" ancestors and are now generally bred to other bengals rather than back to their wild ancestors.

Savannah cats are more of an issue - they're much more "wild" than bengals as a rule!

My DIL has a half bengal, it is the "boss" of the neighbourhood and has all the scars to prove it. I never realised that these cats were so aggressive.

Yes, but there is another piece, somewhere there, asking for Bengals to be included because if their known aggression.

It will be a pig's ear, like the dangerous dogs act, but it might be of some use to people like OP.

Not a Bengali but I have a stray coming round terrorising my cats at the moment. £250 in vets bills for two injuries in the last month. I had literally only just let him out again! I daren't let him out until this stray has been trapped but I now have to put up with him spraying in the house as he's so unhappy being kept in.

purplesequins · 21/05/2022 15:54

neighbours resorted to buying a live trap and taking the bengal back to it's owners.

littlestpogo · 21/05/2022 16:14

@Newnormal99 - yes the same! I haven’t got spraying but 24/7 yowling as he is having to be kept in!

@littlestpogo

Mine also tries to get under the wooden blinds in my daughters room (in the hope window to flat roof is open) at 4am most mornings!

It's very noisy......
