Cat with diarrhoea and kidney failure

Dcat is 21 and had kidney failure since 12.

She got cystitis just over a week ago and the antibiotics for that have caused diarrhoea which started on Friday. Bloods taken last week were ok for her. Vet hoped the injection for the diarrhoea would last a week+. Unfortunately it hasn't and the diarrhoea has started again.

Poor cat is stressed going to vets (been 3 times in last week). If treatment isn't working when do I call it time? We've had dcat since she was 8 weeks old.

Oh you poor thing and your poor cat. It seems she is struggling op. Will your vet do a home visit to help her on her journey.

I think at 21 it might be time for her and a kind thing to do.

DH wants to take her to the vets and see if any more treatments are possible. I think it might be time though.

Photo of dcat attached from a few weeks ago.

So sorry to hear your further news, she's a lovely girl. A decent vet will let you have a telephone call or perhaps see them without DC, if you want to discuss your options - so at least she hasn't got the stress of another visit.

Obviously it depends what you can deal with in terms of diarrhoea, but the time to let her go is definitely when she isn't enjoying life, is in pain or struggling. The last few months aren't easy trying to make the right decision at the right time - I've been there.
