Kitten Checklist: read before you buy!

There have been a few posts on the topic of late, so please, if you’re thinking of getting a kitten, I beg you to read the Kitten Checklist that has been compiled as a joint project by multiple UK animal charities & rescue organisations.

It’s brilliantly thorough; & hopefully it will help protect felines & humans from backyard breeders, who hugely increased in number over lockdown.

That is a lot of information.

It’s a lot of info but it’s a big responsibility.

I wonder what the kittens would ask us if they could?

It is a lot of information - & it’s “just” about getting the kitten, not actually caring for it. And it’s no use only thinking about kitten care, you need to be thinking about caring for an adult cat - & planning to factor in cat-ownership for [at least] the next 14 years of your life.

Hopefully the more it gets promoted on places like The Litter Tray where people routinely ask for advice about getting kittens; the fewer customers kitten mills & backstreet breeders will have because using this document will help people spot them, & they won’t willingly contribute to torturing cats [to death].
