Cat with weepy eye for weeks now

My six year old cat has had a permanent tear track on her right eye for what must be over four weeks now, maybe even six.

She's had a virtual vet appointment and one in-person appointment, but neither were worried as the eye isn't inflamed and she's still behaving normally and seeming well.

What is it? Anyone else had this? The tear changes from clear to rusty coloured and it looks like it makes the skin underneath it dry and sore.

I've just caught a whiff of her breath and it seems slightly fishier than normal, I have no idea if somehow that could be connected or whether I am just looking for things now (likely tbh).

She's had the odd gunky eye before but it always clears up after a few days, this is becoming a bit of a mystery!

It could possibly be an ulcer, my cat suffers from them and he has flares up every now and again, His eye tends to look swollen along with the weeping though. The vet puts a flourescent dye in his eye which makes the affected area glow. Did your vet try that?

@parkrunner1977 Thanks, the vet mentioned this as an option but only if it hadn't cleared up after a few more weeks. I think I'll take her back for this if it hasn't gone in two more weeks!

Mine has had this for a couple of years now, in both eyes. The vet has told me that she has allergies and nothing can be done. I have tried eye drops, but nothing changed. Now, I wipe her eyes with warm water on a cloth or cotton wool pad, from the outside of the eye, inwards.
