Has the cat run away

We have had a puppy for the last 9 months. We also have 2 x 8 year old cats.

The cats have never warmed to the dog and we've mostly kept them in separate parts of the house.

One cat is much more timid that the other so has tended to stay upstairs unless we can persuade him out.

I managed to persuade him out on Thursday evening but he hasn't come back.

I'm worried he's just had enough of the dog and left home Sad

It’s just nice weather and the wildlife is waking up. My cats both didn’t come home last night. If it’s any consolation, my cats took absolutely months to get used to the dogs too, but they got there in the end.

Thank you. That makes me feel better.

I hope he comes home soon.

Still no sign. I've asked in our local Facebook group.

Our other cat was out last night and I was secretly hoping she would bring him home with her.

It's entirely possible - I hate to say it, but not all cats are happy living with dogs.

But it's equally possible that with the lighter nights and warmer weather, that your cat is just making the most of the nice weather and that he'll saunter back in in his own time.

Three days isn't an awfully long time so try not to worry too much.

Have you asked your other cat to go and find him. Seems silly, but I did it when I couldn't find one Of mine. She reappeared about five minutes later with other cat in hot pursuit. I now always send the other out to find her sister.

I did that when some tourists scared my ducks away. Only the drake came back so I sent him off to find his family. He returned with all the hens the next day. His son never came back though. Sad

When I got a puppy, my cat refused to come in the house. She moved to the out house, so we moved her bed and food etc into there.

She happily lived there for a year or so. Never came back into the main house but lived in there.

We moved house 3 years ago and she moved with us into the house. She now lives upstairs and very rarely goes outside.

My neighbours cat moved in with me when they got a puppy

He has returned!

Turned up at the back door last night. No explanation, no apology. Bloody cat!
