Nothing better. Except two (or more) purring cats.

That’s funny.

I love how soothing it is. Completely different when I’m cuddling my dogs. They need to start purring. Makes them feel weird not to

One of our cats is ex-feral. She's been with us about 8 months. She didn't seem to know how to purr. Tried a few times when snuggled up with DCat2 but it didn't quite come out right.

Last night she was loafing on the bed and had her first proper purr. It made me feel all warm and happy inside.

Soubriquet · 06/04/2022 19:36

Awwwww how cute!

Mine has learned to purr audibly at the grand old age of 4. I love it.

Yeah I like my head so I wouldn’t risk that

Yes. It is, except when the pillow will not sit still. Looking at you Cheddar. Grin

I can’t even touch my cats paws!

Like fuck will she let me use her as a pillow.

I’m the pillow. Always. No sense of boundaries when she has her head snuggled right under my chin drooling.

I end up with a very wet chest

I have a cat that lays on top of me and purrs whenever I am struggling to sleep or ill. I'll be asleep in minutes

PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 06/04/2022 20:00

🤣🤣

I've had a serious of rescue cats and find it can take patient training.

Even the deeply traumatised one has grown to love head kisses and the occasional sneaky cuddle.

Dilbertian · 06/04/2022 20:04

I'm sure I've read somewhere that they purr at a frequency which promotes healing.

No, don't say anything. I don't care whether that's fact or myth Grin

PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 06/04/2022 20:07

They do! It's one of the reasons scientists think cats evolved to purr in the first place. So self-sufficient.

Soubriquet · 06/04/2022 20:07

It’s true.

Not only to promote their healing, but they will purr on you to help you to heal too.

Mine is always extra attentive when I have bad period cramps.

Lays directly on the belly and purrs up a storm.

I would like to say it helps, but it doesn’t. Only because her weight on the belly makes it worse Grin

I don’t have the heart to shift her though

When Asbo was young he slept in our room and I’d feel a back paw gently ease my head off the pillow during the night.

He loved a silk pillowcase, god for keeping your fur extra sleek.

"A cat purring on your lap is more healing than any drug in the world, as the vibrations you are feeling are of pure love and contentment.” — St Francis of Assisi

Toddlerteaplease · 06/04/2022 20:42

Cheddar also likes to use me as a pillow. I love it when she's sitting on my chest with her head on my shoulder. It's the best feeling.

SalsaLove · 07/04/2022 14:17

My girl has ample hips for me to rest my head on, as she purrs us both to sleep. Pure bliss!

PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 07/04/2022 22:37

This made me laugh out loud!Grin

It does... unless it happens to be gone midnight, the cat has inserted itself in between your pillow and your head, and the loud purry vibrations are preventing you from going to sleep.
PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 10/04/2022 21:25

@chisanunian 🤣 I'm struggling to see the issue - still sounds like heaven to me!

Depends how loud the purring is, and whether you also have a tail across your face!

ppeatfruit · 12/04/2022 09:00

Our rescue half Main Coon has breathing issues, he's on steroids , his purring is like a lawn mower! He's so loyal and doglike .A dog that purrs !!!!!!
