After general anaesthesia

Looking for reassurance from the cat slaves whisperers of MN.

MrCat had a tooth out yesterday. He seems fine today, except that his miaow has changed completely. When I brought him home yesterday he was as talkative as ever, and sounded just the same as ever: loud, almost musical miaows. Purring loudly, too.

This morning he is still talking, but his miaow is quiet and creaky.

He has eaten well, piddled, and has just had his first doses of pain relief and ABs since coming home.

I'm guessing he was intubated, so maybe has a sore throat, and that has caused the change to his miaow, and it should get better in the next few days?

Probably. Mine always got put next to siameses in the cattery and mimicked them for a few days after leaving.

I reckon it's the oesophageal tube causing a little bruising, as you suggest.

Is he drinking? If it continues beyond today, I'd give the surgery a call to ask what they think, or even call them today. Hope he recovers soonSmile
